New Maribor Art Gallery

In response to a competition brief calling for a contemporary art museum to be located in a sensitive historic context, our project works with part-to-whole relationships that allow different scales to operate simultaneously. The active roofline establishes a distinctive presence on site, while the scale of the gallery blocks stitches the new building back into the fabric of the city. This assembly of regular, self-similar elements creates local difference while maintaining overall coherence.
