Taichung InfoBox

In 2010, SAA completed the master-plan for the conversion of the former Taichung Municipal Airport into a new park. As a strategy to introduce the public into the park before construction, the InfoBox was built inside a large hangar on site. By re-cycling an existing building we called attention to the history of the airport site while at the same time looking forward to a new future. The InfoBox re-purposes traditional bamboo scaffolding techniques. This meant that the pavilion could be built quickly and inexpensively, using a locally available green technology. All construction materials were recycled at the end of the pavilion’s lifespan.
