P/S Studio

The clients are a ceramics artist and a painter; the project is located on a rural property in the Hudson River Valley. Built on the foundation of an existing garage, the building recalls the local vernacular while providing expansive, well-lit workspaces. The ceramics studio and kiln are on the ground floor and the painting studio on the upper level. Working within tight restrictions of cost, site and program, we built an iconic, barn-like volume, in which the corrugated metal siding introduces an unfamiliar scale and texture.
