L/B Studio

The client is a working artist, recently relocated from Los Angeles to the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. She directs an artist residency, and the property functions as a gathering space for visiting artists as well as a painting studio. The roof structure is a compound of two pitched-roof volumes, angled in response to the site. The iconic profile of the roof repeats at different angles, playing with the recognizability of this familiar vernacular form at the same time as it produces variation and difference.
