Hoosic River Arena

Like many small cities of the northeast, North Adams suffered loss of jobs and population in the late 20th century as mills and factories closed. The conversion of empty buildings into the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art has sparked a partial revival, but downtown North Adams remains fragmented and economically marginal. This project leverages the potential of a strategic architectural intervention to catalyze further revival downtown: a large multi-use structure housing public programs, retail and recreation.
